T-Mobile redesigns plans around a shared allowance for devices and subscriptions

T-Mobile ($TMUS) announced T-Mix, a national wireless-plan redesign due in November. Single-line Standard, More and Loaded plans start at $55, $75 and $95 a month respectively with AutoPay, before taxes and fees. They include one, two and three “Picks,” which customers allocate between device promotions and services such as streaming, gaming, food delivery or satellite connectivity.

The change replaces fixed benefit bundles with an allowance shared across an account; using Picks for phones leaves fewer for other services. Partner selections can generally be changed quarterly. Existing customers can retain their plans or switch, and T-Mobile has not promised a permanent price guarantee for T-Mix. The launch changes how the carrier packages handset incentives and subscriptions, but no quantified effect on subscriber growth, revenue or margins was announced.
