United Oil & Gas appoints Donal Meehan as COO as Jamaica farm-out work continues
United Oil & Gas announced on 7 September 2026 that Donal Meehan becomes chief operating officer with immediate effect.
Responsibilities and background
The appointment is non-board. Meehan previously served as head of commercial and has approximately 20 years of upstream oil-and-gas experience.
The company highlights operational readiness and work relating to the Walton Morant opportunity in Jamaica, including the ongoing farm-out process.
What the update means
The appointment adds operational responsibility to an existing senior executive's remit. It does not confirm that the Jamaica farm-out has concluded or identify a signed partner, financial commitment or transaction terms.
For shareholders, the material follow-up remains the commercial agreement itself: any partner's commitment, the retained interest, funded work programme and conditions to completion.
Leadership capacity can help execution, but it is separate from securing project finance or proving a commercial resource. Today's announcement provides a management milestone while those project outcomes remain outstanding.
