New Decipher analysis links genomic scores to benefit from added hormone therapy
Veracyte ($VCYT) reported a retrospective analysis of samples from 395 participants in a randomized Phase III prostate-cancer trial. Patients with intermediate or high Decipher genomic scores had an eight-percentage-point reduction in ten-year distant metastasis when short-term hormone therapy was added to radiation. The low-score group, representing 44% of the analyzed cohort, showed a one-point difference that was not statistically significant.
The findings could extend the test’s role from estimating prognosis to helping identify patients more likely to benefit from treatment intensification. The treatment-by-test interaction for distant metastasis was statistically significant, and median follow-up exceeded ten years. However, this was an ancillary analysis of archived samples, not a new prospective trial assigning care by test result. The announcement does not establish a new regulatory approval or a quantified sales benefit.
