Viasat brings ViaSat-3 F2 into commercial service

Viasat ($VSAT) brought the ViaSat-3 F2 satellite into commercial service across the Americas. The spacecraft is designed to provide more than one terabit per second of capacity, using flexible beam technology to direct bandwidth toward areas of demand. The start of service marks the transition from deployment and testing to customer-facing operations.

Viasat said the completed ViaSat-3 constellation triples the bandwidth available across its global fleet. That is the company’s capacity assessment, not a forecast that revenue will triple. The additional resources are intended to support connectivity demand across the markets served by the network. The announcement does not disclose a corresponding value of newly signed customer contracts, and available bandwidth should be distinguished from paid utilization and recognized sales.
