Corning and Verizon sign multibillion-dollar fiber supply agreement
Corning ($GLW) and Verizon ($VZ) reached a multibillion-dollar agreement covering more than 80 million miles of high-density optical fiber and connectivity products for delivery from 2027 through 2032. The supply will support Verizon’s residential and business broadband expansion as well as long-haul links between AI data centers. Verizon said the arrangement supports its ambition to reach 40–50 million broadband passings.
The companies are extending a partnership spanning three decades. Corning expects the agreement to support further expansion of its US manufacturing footprint, including production of cables that fit more fiber into existing conduits. The precise contract value was not disclosed. The 80-million-mile figure measures optical fiber, not the geographical length of new network routes.
