Western Digital forecasts further acceleration after strong storage earnings
Western Digital ($WDC) reported fiscal first-quarter 2027 revenue of $4.38 billion, up 55%, as stronger exabyte shipments and pricing lifted results. GAAP earnings reached $4.63 per share and adjusted earnings were $4.64. Adjusted gross margin increased to 58.1%, while operating cash flow totaled $1.60 billion and free cash flow was $1.38 billion.
For fiscal second-quarter 2027, the storage company expects revenue of $5.1 billion, plus or minus $100 million, representing growth of 66%–72%. It forecast adjusted gross margin of 60%–61% and adjusted earnings of $5.80 per share, plus or minus $0.20. These projections point to further margin expansion but remain dependent on customer demand, pricing and execution of technology transitions.
