ElringKlinger’s EKPO unveils a lighter fuel-cell platform for heavy vehicles

ElringKlinger’s ($ZIL2) EKPO fuel-cell business presented a new generation of its NM20 platform for heavy-duty transport. The company said module volume has been reduced by about 20%, while weight falls from 217 kilograms to 178 kilograms. The design targets 200 kilowatts from a single module and more than 400 kilowatts in a twin-module configuration.

EKPO also describes a design life of 25,000 operating hours and a modular manufacturing approach intended to ease integration and industrialization. These are company-reported engineering specifications for a development-stage, B-sample platform, not independently verified fleet results. The announcement does not disclose a mass-production order, customer contract value or a revised earnings outlook. Commercial significance will depend on customer validation, adoption and progress toward series production.
