Bristol Myers reports deeper myeloma responses with iberdomide regimen
Bristol Myers Squibb ($BMY) presented Phase 3 EXCALIBER-RRMM results for iberdomide combined with daratumumab and dexamethasone in relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. Among 420 evaluable patients, 41.1% achieved a complete response with no detectable residual disease on the specified test, versus 20.7% with daratumumab, bortezomib and dexamethasone. Overall response rates were 88.9% and 76.1%, respectively.
The benefit came with higher rates of severe toxicity: Grade 3 or 4 neutropenia occurred in 84.3% versus 11.3%, while severe infections occurred in 39.2% versus 21.6%. Progression-free survival, the study’s other primary endpoint, was not reported in this presentation. The new evidence concerns depth of response, not proof that the regimen extends survival.
