REGENXBIO reports three-year durability in diabetic-retinopathy study
REGENXBIO ($RGNX) presented three-year results from ALTITUDE, its Phase 2 study of sura-vec for diabetic retinopathy. Six of ten patients in the Dose 3 group who had reached the three-year visit showed an improvement of more than two steps on the specified retinopathy severity scale, without additional treatment or a vision-threatening event. The update adds longer follow-up rather than a new pivotal-trial outcome.
The company reported no intraocular inflammation among 17 patients receiving preventive steroids and no new treatment-related safety signals. The Dose 3 regimen is being evaluated in the Phase 2b/3 NAAVIGATE program. The durability finding applies to a small follow-up subset and should not be generalized to all enrolled patients or treated as regulatory approval.
