Savannah starts final pre-construction drilling at Barroso and adds a local partnership

Savannah Resources updated the Barroso lithium project on 7 September 2026.

Technical programme

Two rigs are operating on geotechnical investigation and groundwater-monitoring installations. Additional rigs are expected, with the current programme planned to take approximately four weeks.

The data will support detailed designs for reservoirs, tailings storage, waste facilities, roads and earthworks.

Financing and stakeholders

Technical, environmental and social due diligence for project finance is progressing, with final reports intended for shortlisted lenders.

Savannah also signed a memorandum with the Boticas parish-church entity, its seventh local partnership agreement this year.

What remains outstanding

The definitive feasibility study and initial 20-million-tonne JORC reserve were announced in July; they are background, not a new reserve estimate today.

Pre-construction drilling and community agreements advance readiness, but do not themselves complete project financing or the remaining licensing process.

The next milestones are engineering outputs, lender due diligence, outstanding approvals and a financed construction programme. Investors should distinguish progress toward construction from confirmation that full construction has begun.
